is going to be mine now :) from ohio knitting mills.
this is the finished hawkeye, a shih tzu cutie pie. the long fur on his head and tail was a big challenge--also the different shades of fur were tricky to show. look closely and you'll see he has a bad left eye (and a very sweet underbite!)
CORRECTION: hawkeye is a lhasa apso, not a shih tzu. sorry, hawkeye!
here's my finished spike, a jack russell terrier. tomorrow night i'll have a photo of the finished hawkeye!
i am sending a few pieces for the september/october show at artstream--one will be a little family of these snapping turtles. this one is a bit naive, but i think the next one will have a more detailed face. we had a snapping turtle that lived on the farm i worked on in connecticut. we would throw strawberries in the pond in the summertime and watch his little head poke out of the water to eat them.
and here is the latest dog portrait i'm working on, a shih tzu named hawkeye. he's not finished yet but i am pretty happy with his back end :)
a few highlights form my trip to San Francisco a couple weeks ago: meeting Willy at Rare Device, visiting Rose and Radish and the Curiosity Shoppe, eating lots of good food, SF Renegade, Golden Gate Park, walking up steep hills...definitely top on my list of places to live when I leave New York.
other new things i am excited about: Lena's new book!!! (see if you can find me in it!), something's hiding in here's apartment in Readymade, and the new Dr. Dog. Also I started watching Lost a few weeks ago from the beginning and I just caught up to the end of season 4. WOW.
my latest dog portraits: dexter (image courtesy of something's hiding in here!) and betty, a pembroke corgi.
i'll be back later this week with some highlights from my san francisco trip. i went to see julia and caitlin's show at rare device.
finishing up my largest order yet from a beautiful shop in belgium called little circus
